Before you bring your new friend home, stock up on a few items to make him or her feel welcome.
Among the essentials is a warm bed, feeding bowls, a litter tray, grooming tools, a traveling basket, treats, litter box and lots of love and affection.
A brush and a comb are all you need to keep a shorthaired cat looking smart, although for longhairs you may need extra brushes and combs and will also take up more of you time.
Put a collar on your cat as soon as he starts going out, though he may object at first. A name and address tag is a must incase he gets lost or wanders far from home. The collar should not be loose; one finger between the cat and the collar is fine. If the collar is loose the cat can easily be caught while climbing etc and can cause injury.
Cats and kittens love playing games so make sure they have plenty of toys to keep them happy. Balls, feathers or a toy mouse are the favorites. However there are so may toys out there that I can guarantee you… who will have as much fun as you cat.!
Cats and kittens will find just about anything of interest and anything that moves, makes a noise, or can be tossed in the air is fair game to them and will amuse them for hours. If you want to keep your furniture in one piece make sure to get a scratching post cat love them and you will appreciate it.
