Best Cat Toys
The best cat toys vary from cat to cat. The reason is simple: just like children (and heck, adults too) cats have their own personalities and enjoy doing different activities. This is also true for their age as well. As a cat is younger or older, they will need different entertainment as they get bored or grow out of their toys and move into different ones. Fortunately, for cat owners have a lot of options for their pet, but it may take a little guesswork and trial and error to figure out what your cat likes best. Don’t be discouraged though: cats love to play and chase toys, it appeals to their natural instinct.
Though it’s not a cat toy specifically, one of the most fun ways to keep your cat entertained is with a laser pointers. Cats love to chase after stuff and laser pointers are exactly that something. Best of all, the cat can’t catch it, so it drives them to chase it more. Additionally, pointers are easy to use.
One of the more popular toys for cats specifically is a fake mouse stuffed with catnip. This herb is intoxicating to cats (literally) and excites them greatly. They have a great time playing with an artificial mouse in the first place, but the catnip drives them on further to get excited to play with their toy. Don’t worry though, catnip is natural herb and has no danger to your pets. Toys with catnip come in many different forms, but the mouse is by far the most traditional and appealing to cats.
Though it is very simple (and can be often made at home) a feather or some variant on a string can bring loads of entertainment for a cat. As with the pointer, cats love to chase objects and it appeals to their natural instinct. For the owner, this feather can be easily flicked and bounced to give variation to the play.
Similar to this, cats can be entertained on their own with a scratching post with a flexible wire with a feather on the end. These are stationary and don’t involve any effort on the owners part. Though convenient they can also be boring to the pet for the lack of variation.
Toys are very important for cats as it allows them to get out excess energy and feel like a cat. Though it may take a bit of work to find the best cat toys, it’s well worth it.
